The Client/Server Solution
RapidBrowser is the first desktop application specifically
designed for broadband portal and media companies (“Portals”)
and their high-speed customers. Unlike regular browsers
that are only client applications, RapidBrowser is a
client/server application. Now, portals can control
and update the links bar, search engine, and available
video for each user. And by storing options, preferences,
and play lists on the server, RapidBrowser is the most
customizable application for broadband consumers.
Multimedia
Streaming Video
To this point, accessing streaming media on the Internet
has been a difficult and cumbersome proposition. With
the RapidBrowser, locating and watching streaming video
is easy. Consumers no longer need to navigate numerous
web pages to find and view relevant multimedia content.
Users can pre-select their own video playlist
from the programs menu, and watch their favorite programs
continuously in the order they have selected. Viewers
can also now multitask while watching video on the web.
Since the RapidMedia’s video screen is embedded into
the browser, and not on any particular web page, users
can check email, write a letter, or surf the web while
their playlist is running. TV Mode allows users
to view only the media player while multitasking or
they can view programs in full screen mode.
Ad Serving Technology
The advertising technology allows for targeted serving
of video advertisements to the PC, and is accomplished
through a caching process. This process saves considerable
bandwidth, and also ensures that higher quality advertisements
viewed by the end user. Video advertisements are served
in between content clips within the playlist, and are
targeted based on demographic, geographic, and content
adjacency information. In addition, advertisements are
interactive, such that users may click on the
video window, and immediately view the web page associated
with that particular commercial.
Internet Radio and MP3
Users can listen to their favorite music from Internet
radio or MP3’s from their local hard drive. As with
the video playlist, users can customize the order in
which they listen to songs while they multi-task.
TV Tuner Card Compatibility
and PVR Functionality
The RapidBrowser integrates with Microsoft WDM compatible
TV Tuner cards allowing users to watch live television.
This is perfect for the home office, the second bedroom,
or the college dorm room. Users can also record their
favorite programs with the Personal Video Recorder (PVR)
built in.
Breaking News & Video
Alert
RapidBrowser automatically notifies users of new videos
or messages so they can keep with on the latest news
and information without having to actively seek it out.
For the Portals, the video alerts also provide valuable
advertising space and continuously bring the user back
to using their content and web properties.

Video Conferencing
The video conferencing client in the RapidBrowser allows
for peer-to-peer conferencing throughout the Internet.
Users must have a WDM compatible video camera installed
on their system. This feature can be a great viral marketing
element for Portals.
Instant Messaging
& Chat
RapidBrowser allows users to IM with buddies from all
major service: AOL, MSN, Yahoo & ICQ. It automatically
imports buddies so users can IM through one easy interface.
This is beneficial to consumers and Portals because
it eliminates switching costs for consumers and gives
Portals a sticky application to offer their end users.
Web
Navigation
Links Bar
The Links Bar allows quick, convenient access to the
best of the web by displaying a set of links (News,
Business, Sports, etc.) which can be preset for users
by the IT administrator via the RapidManager. Portals
can change the links dynamically and offer premiere
links placement to advertisers and partners, receiving
commissions on referral ecommerce.
Search
Search Bar integration makes it easy to quickly perform
web searches without having to open a search page. The
default search engine can be set to a popular search
engine or the portal company’s partner search engine.
Tabs-Based Browsing
RapidBrowser's unique tab-based browsing allows users
to open multiple web pages, and navigate within the
pages separately. Browsing efficiency is increased as
users are able to view and compare web pages easily.
Multiple Home Pages
Users can set up to seven multiple home pages to open
automatically when they sign on the browser. Portals
can set the home pages to their web properties, or dynamically
“push” pages to users at any time with offers or announcements.
Access
Auto Login
RapidBrowser technology facilitates single sign on
to multiple web services. My Calendar, My Contacts,
My Hotmail, and My Yahoo are links that are provided
as examples of this “passport” type service. RapidMedia
can integrate auto login to partner web services for
the Company’s private label RapidBrowser. A great ease-of-use
feature that will hook customers to their RapidBrowser.
Remote Login
Because RapidBrowser is a client/server application,
users can log into their account from any computer.
All of the customized settings, favorites, and content
are automatically retrieved from the server.
Email
RapidBrowser integrates with POP3 email for message
notices. The email button on the navigation bar is customizable
by the portal company to launch a default email program
or can be set to open a web-based email page.
Server Storage
RapidBrowser is designed to make Favorites easier to
use and more accessible by the user. By default, RapidBrowser
can import Favorites from IE and load them into RapidBrowser’s
Favorites menu. These Favorites can then be uploaded
to the server so that they area available no matter
which computer the user logs into.
